This Privacy Policy explains how the app "Meilė Tau" (package name lt.meiletau.app) handles your information. If you have any questions, please contact us at: support@meiletau.com.

1. Data We Collect

Account data (Google Sign-In): We use Google Sign-In and Firebase Authentication for login. We store your email address and user ID for couple linking.
Couple data: We store the couple ID, writer and reader information to enable message sharing.
Messages: Your daily love messages are stored in the Cloud Firestore database.
Device data: We store the device identifier, time zone, and FCM token to deliver notifications. For crash diagnostics, we also collect technical device information: manufacturer, model, brand, OS version, SDK version, and whether the device is physical (not an emulator).
App usage data: We collect aggregated usage statistics via Firebase Analytics, including installation date, number of days since installation, and returning user metrics to improve the app.
Crash diagnostics: Crash and error data is sent to Firebase Crashlytics. Crash reports may include your email address and the device data listed above for error identification.
Performance data: App speed and stability data is collected via Firebase Performance Monitoring.
Notification settings: We store your chosen reminder time and whether notifications are enabled.
Subscription data: We process purchase information (product ID, purchase date, expiry date) via Google Play Billing. We do not process your payment card data — that is handled by Google.

2. Why We Process Data

To provide login and account functionality.
To link couples and enable message sharing.
To deliver core features (notifications, calendar, widgets).
To send daily reminders about new messages.
To process and manage Premium subscriptions.
To improve the app (analytics).
To fix bugs (Crashlytics).

3. Subscription and Payment Data

Important: Payments are processed by Google Play. We do not have access to your payment card details.

We process the following subscription-related data:

Subscription type (monthly / annual)
Subscription status (active / expired / trial)
Purchase and expiry dates
Google Play purchase identifier (for verification)

4. Data Sharing

We use the following service providers:

Google Firebase (Google LLC) - authentication, database, analytics, notifications, crash diagnostics, performance monitoring.
Google Play Billing (Google LLC) - subscription and payment processing.

Data may be processed in Google's infrastructure under their terms. We do not sell or rent your data to third parties.

5. Data Retention

Account data: Until the account is active or until you request deletion.
Messages: Until the couple is active or until you request deletion.
Subscription records: 3 years from purchase (for accounting purposes).
Analytics and performance data: Per Firebase default retention periods (up to 14 months).

You have the right to:

Access your data
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data
Cancel your subscription at any time

7. How to Delete Your Data

Data deletion in the app:

Open the app
Tap the menu button (⋮) in the top right corner
Select "Delete data"
Confirm the deletion

For writers: Deleting your data will remove all 365 messages, dissolve the couple, and the reader will lose access.

For readers: Deleting your data will remove you from the couple, but the writer's messages will remain unchanged.

8. Data Security

We use Firebase security measures, including encryption in transit and at rest, access rules (Firestore Security Rules) and server-side purchase verification.

9. Cookies on This Website

Cookies are small files stored on your device. This website uses only one optional category — analytics cookies — and only if you agree.

Analytics cookies. We use Google Analytics 4 (provider: Google Ireland Limited) to see how many people visit the site, where they come from and which pages are useful. The reports are aggregated and are not used to identify you personally. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Cookies used: _ga and _ga_ZZB9WMMS84 (up to 2 years).

No advertising cookies. We do not use advertising, remarketing or social media cookies, and we do not share website data with Google for advertising (Google Consent Mode: ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization are always set to “denied”).

Legal basis. Analytics cookies are set only after you click “Accept” (consent, GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). Until then, the Google Analytics script is not loaded and no data is sent to Google. If you click “Reject”, the site works in exactly the same way.

Your choice. No cookies are required for this site to function. Your choice is stored in your browser (localStorage, key mt-consent) for 6 months, after which we ask again. This is not a cookie and is not sent to any server.

Withdrawing consent. You can change your decision at any time via “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page — it is as easy as giving consent. When you withdraw consent, analytics stops immediately and the analytics cookies are deleted. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings.

Data transfers. Google may transfer data to the USA under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

10. Children

The app is not intended for children under 13 years of age. If you believe a child's data has been submitted without parental consent, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

11. Policy Changes

We may update this policy. We will notify you of significant changes within the app. The latest version will always be available on this page.
